Russia rains missiles and UAVs on Ukraine, Polish planes rush to take off

Russia has launched a large-scale attack on multiple targets in Ukraine, with 537 airborne weapons, including cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles and various types of drones.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of June 28 and early morning of June 29, Russia attacked Ukraine with 537 aerial weapons, including 477 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 60 missiles (including Kh-47M2 Kinzhal and Iskander-M ballistic missiles; Kh-101, Iskander-K, Kalibr cruise missiles and S-300 guided air defense missiles).
While UAVs were launched from Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo, Chauda (Crimea), missiles were launched from the airspace of Tambov, Voronezh, Crimea, Saratov, Kursk, Bryansk and the Black Sea.
As of 8:30 a.m. on June 29, Ukrainian forces, including air force, air defense, electronic warfare systems and mobile fire groups, had intercepted and neutralized 211 drones (255 others disappeared from radar screens), 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile, 33 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles (1 missile disappeared from radar) and 4 Kalibr cruise missiles.
The Russian missile strike lasted nearly three hours, while the drone strike lasted nearly 10 hours. Debris from the downed target was recorded at at least eight locations, while six areas reported airstrikes.
Several areas were targeted by Russian forces, including Kremenchuk, Poltava, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Lviv and the capital Kiev.
At the time of Russia’s large-scale attack on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces’ Operational Command and its allies mobilized military aircraft and put ground air defense systems on alert.
“The Combat Command has activated all available forces and resources in accordance with established procedures. Fighter aircraft have been deployed, while ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance equipment are at the highest level of readiness,” the Polish Armed Forces’ Combat Command said.
The Ministry noted that the steps taken are aimed at ensuring the safety of Polish airspace. The Ministry continues to monitor the current situation and its forces and means remain in a state of readiness.
